1703 TANGLEWYLDE PARK

Tanglewylde Park is located at 299 West River Road Palatka, FL 32177. It was made possible by a grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Recreational Trails Program.

The project included construction of a ¼ mile looping 8 foot wide, ADA accessible, nature trail utilizing the best management practices of soil and erosion control, grading, clearing, drainage with proper marking and signage. The project also included construction of a canoe/kayak soft launch at the edge of the St. John’s River.

Permits were acquired from the St. Johns River Water Management District, the Army Corps of Engineers, The US Fish and Wildlife Service and  the Putnam County Building Department.  Due to the presence of an eagle’s nest on Site, protective procedures were adhered to throughout the course of construction.  Once construction was initiated, work was completed on time and under budget.

The completed project resulted in a beautiful nature trail promoting casual walks among the trees, shrubs and natural landscape of the Florida environment leading to a handicapped accessible soft launch for kayaks and canoes on the bank of the St. Johns River.
